Covergirl

So a few weeks ago I won some free Covergirl makeup. How? you might ask. A Friend of mine has a pretty cool blog (http://www.bloggingextralite.com/) and in one of her post she was hosting a Covergirl Makeup giveaway and I decided to try it out. All I had to do was  follow her blog (which I was already a follower) and comment on her blog. Easy right? The winner was randomly picked and a couple of days later I got an email saying that I had won!! Woo Hoo!! So I got to pick two items from the Covergirl collection. Well today I received my items via UPS and in the box was an extra item (naturelux gloss balm) in the perfect color for my lips! It was pretty excited opening the box and to see my Covergirl products!! Being new to the blogging world I think this a GREAT way to advertise products so I'm looking forward to reading many other blogs and possibly start doing giveaways in the near future. In the meanwhile go check out my friend's blog!

Sushi Night

The hubby and I love to go out and eat sushi but it can get quite expensive to go out as often as we would like to eat it. So for the longest time I have been wanting to try and make sushi on my own. Well this week i finally decided to try it. This last weekend we went to Borders (book store) and saw that they had a sushi kit (book, dvd, and the rolling mat) for $20 but on sale for $7.99 so we HAD to buy it. I went to the store and got all the ingredients that i needed and suprised my love with sushi for dinner.

This was my final product!!! I made a California roll (cucumber, avocado, jalapeno, and cream cheese)and 2 Spicy Tuna rolls (cucumber, avocado, jalapeno, and spicy tuna). My rolling abilities were not as good as i wanted but with practice it will get better.

I would have to say that I will be making sushi again and probably pretty soon since the hubby and brother in law loved it. :-)

Fake St. Patty's Day

This Saturday we went to Fake St. Patty's Day with a big group of friends. If you are wondering what this is..well is basically a big town celebration/ block party the weekend before St. Patty's day that takes place in Aggieville (downtown area of Manhattan,KS where all the bars are located). This event started at 9am on Saturday but we didn't go out until about 7pm.
We started out with dinner at Houlihans with great appetizers and cocktails while we waited for our whole group (around 13 people) to meet us there. Around 9:30pm we headed to Aggieville (we decided to walk since it was only 3 blocks away and we knew parking would be hard to find). Well our walk there was pretty eventful. People watching during a block party like this is AWESOME. Once we got to the bar where there were more friend's waiting for us we had to wait in line for about 20 minutes to get in (every bar had a long line of people waiting to get in). Once in we decided to just stay there instead of bar hopping since it was cold out and we didn't want to wait in the long lines.

Waiting in line to get in to a bar

This was our second time going to Fake St. Patty's day but last year we just showed up looking for a bar and ended up finding a block party :-). So this year we were prepared with our green attire!
